Lifeway Community Outreach Program
Introducing Cooking with Lifeway: a community outreach program created with kids and parents in mind. The mission, in partnership with Lifeway Foods, is to educate families on the nutritional benefits of food and allowing a creative space to be hands-on when creating simple recipes loaded with great tasting flavors and natural ingredients. It is here where kids get the chance to express their creativity through their food choices by picking and pairing their favorite ingredients with Lifeway products in hopes of establishing healthier eating habits and showing how fun food can be.
Seeing that good habits are formed early on, the program has already made it its focus to reach out to kids and adults across schools, summer camps, and other organizations in the Midwest and East Coast regions. Colleen Lane, Director of Kidspace & Summer Camp states “Each week at KleinLife our campers participate in a cooking class with Lifeway. We are given a new recipe each week to try. Not only are our children learning new fun ways to cook, but our staff is also participating and enjoying it as well. So far the crowd favorite has been the Frankenstein Matcha Smoothie. We love having this opportunity to work with Lifeway and try new things.”
Every parent could relate to the struggle posed in finding a lifestyle balance suitable for their kids needs as well as finding a positive influence in a place where fast food is so easily accessible and the fast-paced environment where highly calculated advertising campaigns are swaying children and parents to eat artificially because it’s an “easier” option. The food landscape in this country has changed tremendously in recent years, but it’s still got a long way to go. Cooking with Lifeway has reached over 10,000 kids in Chicago, Miami, Philadelphia and New York in 2018 alone and shows no signs of slowing down.
